I’ve been working my way through a dyer’s case of single ply sock yarn. It’s my favorite base. This year, I have been on a roll in the studio. My depot mojo has been good! New techniques and colorways, I feel like my line has taken a turn for the better. I feel my work is evolved in the something that I just love and feel proud to stand behind. To be honest this morning with the new batch of blanks in hand I was feeling a little intimidated. So taking my own advice I began with repeating what is already worked so far. Dyeing up some of my tried-and-true colorways to see if any new ideas shake out while doing so. I now understand firsthand why artists do a lot of the same stuff over and over. That muscle memory puts you in the right brain creative space for new work to bloom.
