It’s been a month since I went to Taos. While I was there I started a new art journal to document my trip. I had used it for demonstrations for an art journal class I was teaching. I spent time working alongside my students pasting some of my mementos from the trip into my book. I thought about just keeping that journal as a memento of the trip but there were so many blank pages still left in the book I hated to waste them. So I continued to use this journal throughout the month of October. It’s been really wonderful to be able to come across various spreads from the class as I sat down to make my to do list. I’m reminded of the trip and all the wonderful inspiring things that I learned. Lately the take away I’ve been focusing on is doing more creative work. Spending my time in the studio doing more of the creative stuff that I love, as opposed to getting caught up in the day today chores of running a business. It’s been a little bit of a struggle getting to the studio without hiding behind the mundane chores that I can fill my days with as opposed to carving out the time I need to explore new directions or diving deeper into what I am really resonate with.
