I did not mean for my yoga time to all fall on the same day. But, the two classes with both of my accountability peeps happen to land on Thursday. I am so chill by the end of the day on Thursdays. I still hold out hope for a suitable Monday or Tuesday class (and by suitable, I mean anything with “gentle”, “easy”, or “beginner” in the title).
Asheville is one of those places where you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a yoga teacher. And with that comes some awesome community based donation yoga classes. In fact, we have 2 places that offer donation/pay what you can yoga. The teachers donate their time. And let me just say, all of the teachers do it out of love of the practice. They totally bring it and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the classes I have taken so far.
Asheville Community Yoga in Woodfin is a nondescript building just off the highway. The class selection is VAST, and they have lots of workshops. I know it is crazy, but I like their props.
The other is Asheville Donation Yoga from Asheville Yoga Center on Liberty and Chestnut. Asheville Yoga Center has been around forever. A new building down the street has freed up their old space for donation yoga. They also have an insanely large selection of classes. I have not tried this place yet, but It is definitely on the agenda (for the beginning of the week to spread my bliss out a little further.
So, Here I sit in my yoga pants (ie long shorts) and wooly sweater (because it is 36 out… did I mention I was wearing shorts?) waiting on class number two. I also belong to the YWCA, and they have a few good classes as well.
That is just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many places for yoga here. One of the reasons I love Asheville. Off to get my yoga on. Namasté, y’all.
